Forest Heights Country Club was originally a 9-hole golf facility opened in 1947. In the early 1960’s, the club membership acquired adjoining land and added a second nine. The original course designer was George Cobb. In 1990, Bob Cupp redesigned several holes and made changes to all green complexes. The course has mini verde Bermuda grass on greens which are in immaculate condition most of the year thanks to our course superintendent, Steve Collins and his crew.

Forest Heights also offers a state-of-the-art teaching and performance center for members and guests. We offer lessons individually or in a package. Using V1 video, one of our three golf professionals can analyze player’s swings and help make necessary corrections to improve their scores. Also offered in the performance center are the top four club manufacturers. Members may come out and try clubs from Titleist, Taylor Made, Callaway and Ping. Again, one of our golf professionals would be happy to take you through the club fitting process to make sure you have the right equipment.

HOLE 1

This is a forgiving opening tee shot to begin your round. Just avoid the fairway bunker down the left side and you will be left with a straightforward approach to a receptive green. Play to the middle of the green and you will have a makeable putt.

After a relaxed start to your round, you now get to test your ability. This is a long, slight dogleg left that requires a solid tee shot and a well struck iron to a large, contoured green.

HOLE 3

Hole 3 can be one of the most difficult holes on the golf course. This mid-length par 3 has no bunkers, a narrow, two-tiered green and pine trees guarding the right side. Miss the green left or right and par would be a great score.

HOLE 4

This is another hole that plays much harder than the yardage would lead you to believe. A dogleg right with trees down the right side and a tough, undulating green make this a challenging par 4. A downhill putt can get away from you quickly here.

Accuracy is much more important than distance on this strategic, short par 4. Leave yourself a comfortable yardage to this green fronted by a deep bunker. This is a narrow green that runs off on both sides. Play to the middle of the green and rely on your putter.

HOLE 6

This beautiful, short par 3 is the definition of feast or famine. Hit a good tee shot and you will have an excellent chance to make a birdie. However, a mis-hit tee shot can find the watery grave fronting the green.

This is one of the best birdie opportunities on the golf course. A well struck tee shot will leave a chance to get home in two. The green is guarded by bunkers, so accuracy is just as important as power.

A dogleg right with trees blocking the path of any tee shot hit down the left side. Water guards the left side of the green and especially comes into play with a left hole location.

A straight drive down the center or left side of the fairway is crucial here. A drive in the right rough leaves you behind 3 pine trees. Trying to negotiate these trees while hitting over the pond is quite a challenge. Once you reach the green, your real work begins, as this is one of the most undulating greens on the course. Be careful with any putts from back to front.

HOLE 10

Hole 10 always ranks as most difficult during tournaments and daily play alike. The tee shot has water on the left, trees and out-of-bounds on the right. Your second shot is played from a downhill lie to an uphill green with a false front. Take a par here and run to the next tee.

Straightaway par 4. A good drive leaves an iron to a wide target. Avoid going long, as this leaves a very difficult up and down.

HOLE 12

A demanding tee shot with a big fairway bunker on the right and trees and out-of-bounds down the left side. A pond guards the right side of the fairway, as well as the right side of the green. Any attempt at going for the green in two must be well struck as the second shot seems to play longer than the yardage.

A generous size green would seem to make this an easy hole. However, the slope of this green makes a two putt from certain spots extremely challenging.

A dogleg left with a blind tee shot over a hill. A good tee ball leaves a simple downhill approach to a large green. Once on the green, you are now faced with the most difficult green to read on the entire course.

This par 3 has a huge, sloping green guarded by a big bunker on the front, right side. Once on the green, pay close attention to the speed of your putt.

Probably the easiest hole on the back nine. Avoid the left fairway bunker and you are left with a short approach to a receptive green. This is a good opportunity to make a birdie.

A long, difficult dogleg left par 4. A good drive is needed to give yourself a chance to hit this undulating green. Missing the green left or right makes for a challenging up and down. Par is always a good score here.

A drive down the left side of the fairway gives you maximum roll and the best view of the green. There are fairway bunkers to contend with if you are laying up and trees guard the right side short of the green if you are going for the green in two. This is another undulating green, so staying below the hole is imperative.
